You've probably already been to Brian Enos's website, but if you haven't, it includes everything Dillon. Try www.brianenos.com ; you'll like the info.

Best investment you can make. Swaging on the press is priceless

Fantastic machines. Mine spits out swaged 308 military brass like nobody's business.

I won't load on any other press. I'd rather buy factory ammo than give up my 1050.

For the uber high volume shooter, probably no better press for the $$. If you reload a lot of diff calibers, the 650 is probably a better bet $$ wise. If I loaded a lot of 223, I would get a 1050 just for that.

A caveat: The 1050 is considered a "commercial loader" so Dillon only gives a one year warranty unlike their incredible "no matter what" "lifetime" warranty on their 550/650. I know it is designed and built to last XYZ number of lifetimes longer than any other "consumer" reloader, but sometimes stuff happens. Do any of you owners have experience with Dillon fixing a 1050 gratis after the warranty expires. Given their excellent reputation, it's very likely they have, but I know of folks buying used consumer machines with half the parts broken/missing and Dillon takes care of them.

If you can afford them they are the way to go. I spend more time case gauging my ammo than I do loading it.

Gunoil,
From your 1050 with mr bullet feeder comment in the Hornady v dillon thread and talking about videos, you might like these.

I'll tell you what. Once I am out of the brass business my 1050 is getting sold. It is too efficient for me. I can't feed the thing!!! I can sit and load out a year's worth of 308 in about 2 1/2 hours. Then I look at the machine and go hmmmmm. What to do with you!

A truly great machine that just plain works right out of the box.

The biggest mistake I made was not gettting a 1050 YEARS earlier!

There is Never a Good time to shell out $1500+. You just have to commit and decide if it is worth it. And let me tell you if you are a volume loader/shooter, it is well worth it!

My smartest move was jumping on my second one when the opportunity arose.

Yes, one great, one sucky.

To cut to the chase, one friend had problems with his 1050 and got it replaced free- well after the warranty.

On the flip side, another friend had problems, had to pay over $650 to fix it and still has the same problems! Fortunately he has 3 650's and a 550 so he is not left hanging. Needless to say, he is not fond of 1050's.

There have been stories about some of the parts for the RL, like the one in the above photo, being more difficult to get but I only own supers.

The only thing I have ever had to replace is the plastic tip on the primer tube but it's the same one used on my other Dillons (except the 650).

I just upgraded from a 650 to a 1050. I wish I bought the 1050 first. I have been running into crimped 9mm brass a lot lately. Not a problem any more! I also love how you can adjust the primer depth. The press is very smooth to operate. I started out with a square deal b, when I upgraded to the 650 I thought it doesn't get any better that this. I was wrong! 1050 is worth the extra money.

I've had the primer sensor that cracked and a powder measure plastic tube that you couldn't see through replaced for almost free. Had to ship them back at my cost.
None of the metal parts have worn out in 20+ years.

Id love to have one set up just for 223. Being on fixed income now it just isnt in the cards but if theyd redesign it so it would fit the power trimmer along with the swading station id have to take a loan out. Ive loaded quite a bit on my buddys and its hands down the best press a guy can put in his loading room.

I guess the question is how much is your time worth to you? They are more money than the other progressive's, but they are much better. For Middle class shooters they are still cheap compared to a Harley, a Snowmobile, a Quad, a Wife ....

If you cannot justify it to yourself do this, buy the 1050 and accessories and with all the time you save loading, you can get a second job to pay for it.[smilie=s:

A fixed income? I guess that's a pension?

If I had the space (I used to but no longer) I would buy Stars and configure them for my needs. Star Universals are pretty rare in Canada however.

My first 1050 was given to me as a gift from my wife. Guess she just wanted to spend more time with me;)

I regret selling mine and getting a 550. Not that the 550 is bad. I wish I had them both.

I have two Super 1050s and really like them. Once they are tuned in, they can really crank out the ammo. The only drawback I can think of is the cost of caliber conversions/quick changes set ups ($400+). I shoot a lot of 9mm and 45ACP so my two machines are dedicated to those two calibers. I have a SDB and a CH press for other calibers.

I have one for small primers and one for large primers. Great machines and the decrimping station is awesome. There is no way you could get mine from me. The only two issues are increased cost and time for caliber changes. I also have three 650’s. One for small primers, one for large primers and one dedicated to 45/70 but I much prefer to use the Super 1050. The 650’s only get used for short run or odd ball calibers (except for the one dedicated to 45/70’s)
