This morning my son found his pet rabbit and a chick killed in the chicken shed, obviously a raccoon by the deposit he left behind. So I need shot for handgun real fast. Took a 45-70 drilled a hole in primer with smallest bit I could find, cranked up the pot, put some tranny oil in water cup, used vice grip to hold 45-70 and used a butane burner to regulate heat/flow rate. After the oil was used up I put some brake fluid in and that made very long stringy pellets. Will stay with tranny fluid next time. Got some speer capsules and now we will give this bandit the country welcome all prowlers get! ha ha ha, whats not to like about country livin!, flashlite and handgun investigating the sounds in the shed or barn, doesn't get any better than this!!!!

The story would be better with a pic of the masked bandit!

About what size is the shot you made this way?

That's very ingenius, by the way. I never would have thought of how to make an impromptu shot making apparatus like that.

I just saw this and was thinking of how it could be easier. I got it! Just put a cup of water under the spout of a Lee drip-o-matic! You get boolits and shot at the same time! I knew that I hadn't fixed my leeking Lee for a reason. But I like your idea, too.

Nice innovation ;). Around my area I investigate the night noises the same way--pistol and a flashlight--but it's usually my .357 loaded hot and heavy. The pest last year was a +250# black bear that tore the side rail off my trash trailer and left a skat trail all the way to the treeline when I scared the begeezus out of him in the middle of his snack.

Someone posted about making shoot with their Lee "Drip a Matic". Same idea as yours but they used antifreeze in the cup. I have read, no personal experience, that using antifreeze will make shot that is rounder that if using water.

I tried some engine oil 5-30 and that don't work. If I ever do this again I will try antifreeze. Size is around 8-9 shot size.

I've read that cheap liquid fabric softener works well.

Great, now I have to get a .45-70 so that I can have a piece of brass so that I can make an emergency shot maker. Of all the dang things I have to have another dang rifle just so I can justify buying brass. I suppose next it'll be the molds so that I can actually feed the rifle boolits. Oh well a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Seriously cool idea, and nice job getting that coon.
