A friend picked up this relic and asked me to identify it. This appears to be the original configuration and of course it is a Remington RB. I stuck a caliper in the bore and it came out .459. Attached is a pic of the rifle and the marking on top of the barrel at the breech.

Anybody know what this is?7584675845

This is not the forum to identify your carbine. Try the Remington Society forum and possibly this link ... http://www.remingtonsociety.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19281
* Identify the caliber
* Any cartouches on stock
Mine is 7mm with a Uruguay cartouche. There were other carbines made for the New York militia

I have three in 7 mm, all with a different rear sight, and no cartouche's. You will need to cast the chamber, but you probably know that already. To get a " rough" idea of a chamber size, I use a crayon, melted of course!

I surmise the buttstock is from a rifle and the extra forend band was added for the sling swivel. There are all the right holes for a saddle ring to have once been there.

The barrell band with the sling swivel looks to be from a mauser. Thank you excess650 , I had forgotten about 43 Turk. So... the outside is grungy....what is the bore like? I bought a 7 mm looking like that, and the bore is very clean.
