That is the pellet style slug in a shot wad, right? or is it the old foster style slug?

Congratulations HatCreek, I see you found your right combination that worked right for you, I'll be testing the same slug with 2 3/4 Fed hull with Universal and 3 inch Fed hull with A. Steel powder in the next 2 to 3 days.

Thanks for keeping us informed of your progress.

Best regards,
Ajay

Good morning Brother HatCreek, if its $ 40 for 4 lbs go grab it, if its $50 for 4lbs then its Ok.
Unique is a good powder and will work in Shotgun, Pistol and Rifle loads.

Here is a but, the Blue Dot seems to be very good for Lyman 525 loads besides other's.
Look here:

OD too big for a smooth bore, that is.

What's good about it it cuts a clean hole for a faster kill!

76309763077630876306Just got back from the range thought I would share some photos, the target with the 3 shots touching each other in the square are 42.8grs of blue dot, Lymann .525 slug (pellet type) 2 3/4 Cheddie hull, trap commander wad, the other target is the same set up only I used 31grs of herco, the shots off are due to the sun breaking through the clouds, couldn't see very well, all shots 50yds bench rest, remington 870, fully rifled barrel, nikon 4-7 scope.:bigsmyl2: HC

Has anyone been able to get any accuracy from a smoothbore with these slugs.

I would like to load some down in the 1000 fps range for three gun comps. I need to be able to hit a 9" circle at 25-30 yds. from my Mossberg 500 with 20" bbl.

The point here is a very light load since there is no need to do anything but hit the target. Lighter the better.

Shooting full power slugs gets old pretty fast when you are going thru 15-20 in a minute or so, and maybe 50 in one day.

XS; thanks I might just try that. In that game a hole is a hole and it doesn't matter what makes it.

Cut 12 ga birdshot rounds filled with wax would probably work as well.

don't forget, Miha-MP makes a 2 cavity brass version of this mould. I have one but have not used it yet.

That's a good group HC. If it is repeatable then I think you will be warming your hands on a cold day and filling the freezer. How about checking at a 100 yds to see if the group holds up. That would be interesting to see.

I plan on trying these loads at 100 yds soon, all shots were from a bore sighted scope 870,, i have not made any adjustments, next out I plan on zeroing at 50 yds about 3" high on center then throwing some lead at 100. Where I hunt most shots are less then 50, I'm a huge bow hunter so I like to get up close and personal, anyways thanks, take care. HC
