Hey fellas,
I struck it lucky today and found the load for my 303-35 Martini. I won't be changing anything.

5 shots at 50m, from bench rest. Rifle is fitted with a 2.5 FXII Leupold ultra light scope, mounted on the barrel.

In place of the red dot sight shown here.

Any guess as to how fast it's going?

Yeah, Quickload reckons about 1850, but I'll Chrony it and find out for sure.

Good load. I'd guess it'll do a good job hunting on the right
size of game.

Yup, at that speed I'd agree, you found your load. Shoot it at 100 and 150yds to dial it in and you are fine. Unless, of course, it is one of those loads that starts to fall apart around 100 yds.

 Yeah, I hope it's not one of those, but most of my pig shooting is done at under 100yds. I'll be giving it a good workout though.

Here she is with the new boolit.

I guess now that I've found the load, I'll have to finish the rest of the rifle off, bluing, stocks etc. All good fun, eh. :)

The PP boolit weighs 212g and shoots like this at 50m.

I don't believe you'll ever recover one of them from a pig, unless it is
the one standing behind the one you shot.

 Or the one standing behind the second one. :)

When a big boolit, blows through and animal, it just seems to suck the life out of it. I've had them just fall over, like a metallic sillywet and not even twitch.

Yes, that big flat nose will smack them good.

Let's hope the accuracy holds to 100-150 yards - but most game is taken at 100 yards or less unless you are in the plains or mountains.

I have always liked the old Martini rifles. Yours is a keeper.
