This gas check situation is confusing and crazy, putting it mildly!

When designing a bullet what shank size does one consider correct now/anymore?

The materials very so much in thickness that it has become absolutely rediculious! I had considered buying a tool to make gas checks but when one reads the forums it's nuts! Everyone seems to be having problems and tells how the manufacture works diligantly to straighten things out. Thats great, BUT, I don't want to have to call/email/whatever someone for something as simple as a "gas check".

I want to use/install it and go on with things!

Then we come to the manufactures! Copper checks can be spit out of there check machines at a "Tremendious" rate at extremely low cost to them. This cost about copper being so high in cost now is pure BS (The military doesn't use them), Think about it!

How many checks do you think can be made out of a pound of copper?

Sorry to Rant, but these companies or flat out screwing all of us!

I get my Gator brand gas checks from Blammer, here on this forum. He gives the shank diameter too.

To actually order GC's go here http://groupbuys.dnsalias.com/login.asp

Or just buy a life time supply of checks and make the mold to fit them.
This one is plain base, hollow base and gas check base adjustable length for .45Colt, black powder .45Colt (lotsa lube!), paper patched .45 rifle and muzzle loader.

No need for GCs on pistol boolits.
