Can nickel .22 cases be swaged or does the nickel flake off and mess things up?

The nickle causes an "embrittlement" during the plating process, and causes both the nickle and the supporting brass to become brittle. That will lead to many splits during any stretching attempts. I even tried annealing, without much success.

While a silver bullet might look pretty in concept, achieving it is almost pointless, in my opinion.

I have done a few (very few) in .44 with nickel plated and had know problems with them as far as swaging goes. My concern was more of what the nickel might be doing to the barrel. Although not sure if there is any justification for my fears. With all the brass .22's laying on ranges I think I would stick to brass.
