View Full Version : Use 270 checks for 6.5 bullets???
260 Striker

Just ordered a NOE 264 mould to try in my 260 Remington Striker. I have lots of gas checks for .270 and was wondering if anyone tried to use .270 checks for .264 bullets. I will be sizing to .265 so only 12 thousands difference. I use a check seater for my Lyman lubrisizer so should be able to seat checks square to bullet. Will be casting with straight linotype so will have good hard bullets too. Seems a shame not to use all these .270 checks. Thanks for any info or tips.

It is not quite the same, but I use 6.5 checks on one .257 mold that I can't get my Hornady .25 caliber checks on.

.270 checks are actually larger than 7mm checks.

They are? That's interesting. To the OP, I think it'd work for you, might take a bit of force, but check out the dimensions here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?11997-Gas-Checks-vs-Shank-Size Post #8.
0.277" is larger than 0.284"????

the shank on a cast boolit is smaller on a 7mm than a 270.. but I think the overall diameter is larger on the 7mm check.
