I have purchased some 9x23 brass with the intentions of cutting them down to 9x18 for reloading. I know the base wall of the 9x23 thickness is a minute thicker but I do not see where this would compromise the operation of the fired reload.....Is this out of line to try such a move? Thanks in advance for you help.....

I tried to cut down some 223 brass for 380 but the inside diameter was was smaller on 223 and the resulting bulge would have kept it from feeding correctly.I could have reamed the inside diameter but decieded that it wasn't worth it.

As long as the outside dimensions are correct, function should be fine. Just remember that with less internal capacity/space, your going to have to cut back on the powder charge to a starting charge and work your load back up in those cases.

Older reloading manuals suggested 38 acp brass sized, trimmed and expanded for the 9x18. I use 9mm Luger brass prepped and trimmed in the same manner for the 9x18. Over 99% of my makarov brass is from 9x19 and I've never experienced any problems using it.
