357 Mini Sharps

I need a BP load in 38 special and 357 for a Mini Sharps

Any help will be greatly appreciate

I haven't loaded any 357 magnum yet, but I use 20 grains of fffg Goex in 38 Spl. cartridges. This allows a bit of compression when the boolit is seated. I would guess that ~25 grains would be about right in the 357 mag. Just fill the case to about 3/16" from the top of the case, compress, and seat the boolit. Crimp if needed for cartridge to chamber.

I have always wanted one of these mini sharps in 357. I have one in 22lr but it is not the same.

38 Special ... 158gr bullet - 16gr FFFg - 870 fps
357 Magnum ... 160gr bullet - 25gr FFFg - 900fps

I would fill the cases to allow for at least 1/8"-1/4" compression. less compression equals more fouling but over compression will destroy accuracy and even cause failures. just play around with it till you find what shoots the best. you cant really overload a modern BPCR, so don't worry about pressures too much.

Too bad the factory has not done a chambering in caliber .357 max (Supermag). Then you could have a real opportunity to get respectable BP charges under those boolits.

Go for it. You'll be glad you started loading black and plain base cast. It's where the real fun is.

I would try KIK fffg as it seems to produce higher velocity than Goex and accuracy in my guns has been excellent. GF

I was looking for a load with maybe a lighter bullet for more fps to try to get a little more yards out of it

Lighter boolit, eh? I think I've figured it out. Trying to save the boolit trap, aren't ya?
