The title of the thread does not refer to the stars in the sky.
I don't know if anybody is in need of a larger than normal lead dipper, but I ran across this one on Gunbroker.
Since the buyer can specify left or right-hand operation, I guess the seller makes these himself. The price ain't bad...as dippers go.

How big are you looking for? You casting big gang moulds or pigging out the pot ?
In other words how many # of lead do you want the dipper to hold?

Well...I need it to hold about 3000 grains of alloy.
I hunt with a single-shot Sharps, and sometimes I need a quick follow-up shot.
I carry the big dipper in my pack already full of alloy. When that second shot is needed, I strike a spark into my tinder bundle, and light up some of the buffalo chips I carry in a pull-behind cart.
When the lead in the dipper has melted, there's enough to pour four bullets. I select the best one, reload my cartridge with it, and let fly.

If none of those are sufficient...
I suggest you take some of the nicer samples of buffalo chips from your pull behind cart and whittle a pattern to your liking. Next trading post you come to ask the smitty if he can make a mould of your perfect ladle and cast ya one out of some scrap iron he has. Make sure you have a stub handle on it so after you whittle a nice handle out of white oak you got a place to stick it :drinks:

Actually, Steven, I don't need anything larger than the Lyman.
I just posted the link for those among us who may have a need for something bigger.
They might find your links even more useful...

DUH! [smilie=b:
I guess I should just [smilie=6: when I can't fall asleep instead of reading the forum. Or better yet just :coffee: and make it an all nighter.
After your last response I reread the fist post :groner: It all makes sense now...
Oh well at least the links might be useful..

They look pretty good. Looks like box tubing and torch tips. Clever.

I think that was made by member dot6. He offered them for sale in the S&S forum a while back:
