Nitrided...
do you mean nitrocarburized as in Tenifer or Melonite?

Nitrided in a salt bath
It hardens the steel. Mostly used for high velocity loads
The bore acts like it is slicker. Less fouling. Was curious about how lead works in it

I have Melonite treated barrels in a 1911 and an AR but have shot cast only from the 1911 barrel. I had very little lead reside prior to the Melonite treatment in the 1911 barrel and it appears to be just a tad less now but cleans up a whole lot quicker. In the AR, the barrel collects very little copper. The only barrels I've ever had that cleaned up as quick were custom hand-lapped SS barrels for benchrest.

I'm impressed relative to clean-up but as far as accuracy is concerned - I see no difference.

The Melonite treatment I have on the 1911 is called Hard Hat and the Huldra AR came standard with a Melonite treated barrel and ion-bonded bolt.
