Where do all of you shooters get your load data from? The "old time" cast bullet moulds were lighter than what many shooters now use. I would like to know where a safe minimum and maximum load can be found for a 310 gr. Hoch bullet using Unique and 4759 for my .38-55. The Lyman manuals, and Cast Bullet Handbook that I have only list loads for 250 or 265 grain cast bullets.
Please help.

If your shooting breech seated bullets, in a strong rifle, 18.5 gr 4759 is a old standard load for 300 gr bullets. Use Remington 2 1/2 primers or, if you can't find them, use any other pistol primer. Wolfs are also very good.

I get the vast majority of my loads from the Lyman 49th. However, I've also had a great deal of success contacting the powder manufacturer. I've gotten info from Alliant, Accirate, and Hodgden.

I generally use the powder manufacturer's data. I do use bullet manufacturer's manuals and especially Lyman as well. I think having plenty of reference is a good thing.
