Folks,

I recently picked up a Trapdoor Carbine shooter, and have a couple of questions regarding repairing the rear sight springs.

Carbine:

It's a action in a cut down rifle stock with saddle loop added (not correct, but looks ok). Bore is good and action is tight. It sets off a primer fine and ejects with authority (only tested it with a primed shell casing, haven't shot it yet).

The issue I have is that the leaf spring for the rear sight appears to be missing.

The sight will stand up if I lift it vertical, but falls right over again. There is no tension holding it up.

Also, the slider slides very freely up and down so won't hold position, i.e., it would have to be reset for each shot as recoil would shake it loose.

So, are there any easy fixes for these sight issues? Other than this, the rifle looks like a pretty decent shooter. It slugs out about 0.458-0.460.

It's missing the front sight also, but that is an easy replacement to make.

Thanks for any input.

Try S&S firearms for the spring and also ask how to get those slot less screws out. Front sights?, they got them also. Frank
