So I'm new to casting, and am in the process of gearing up. Today I decided to start establishing some sources for lead. Tire shops around here haven't been helpful, so I decided to check out a local scrap recycler. I was able to stop by and check prices (not amazing at. 90/# but not bad either depending on what they have in). Unfortunately when I first asked they said they wouldn't have any until tomorrow, but once I started to talk to them a bit they decided to double check. The guy says, "I don't have much, but some guy just dropped these off". There were three cardboard boxes in the corner... Picked one up and it reads Hornady 200gr swc. 452". 500ct. Two boxes of that and one box of 38cal swc all tumble lubed. At market value for lead that's only $11 a box.... Ya ill take those :D I'll melt down the 38s since I don't need them but I was setting up to cast 45... I guess that will save me some time lol. Had to share with folks that would appreciate it

Believe it or not, boxes of lead bullets count as junk to some people!

Last weekend I was at the scrap yard turning aluminum cans into lead; look in the lead bin and there are a bunch of ingots from a Saeco mold and some muzzleloader bullets. Didn't take them since I wasn't sure of what alloy they were; took a bunch of battery terminals instead.

I wasn't able to make it last week, but trying to visit tomorrow. I'm sure a six pack wouldn't hurt.... I have some aluminum blocks to take in... I'm going to see if we can work out a more permanent arrangement
