I finally finished the C stock for my 03A3 and took it shooting. With a 165gr bullet with a load that Serria's manual says should be at 2700fps I'm shooting 9.5" high at 100yds. I have a "C" sight blade in it. The rear sight is bottomed out. What blade do I need to get it closer to being on at 100 yds with a standard load?

I'm gonna keep this "C" blade, with my 311299 and a load of WC867 that I got using H870 data (still have some of that, too!) I'm a little high at 100 and basically on at 200. Unfortunately the clouds moved in and I couldn't see the bull at 200 any more so they scattered a little!

I was loading single because I loaded the bullets too long for the magazine. When I loaded the lead I noticed that the cartridges slid back in the magazine well too far and the bolt couldn't pick them up. This can't be right! Am I missing a spacer in the back of the magazine well?

Wayne Smith,
Just guessing but does your magazine shut off selector read "ON" ? If it is in the "OFF" position the bolt will not pick up the cartridges from the magazine.

If that cutoff is in the wrong position, don't feel too dumb, you won't be the first........or the last.

Nope, the cutoff lever is all the way down, I think that's off. Didn't even think of that!

Your magazine cutoff should be in the up position or the "ON" reading to be able to pick up a cartridge from the magazine. At least, on mine, it does. james

I'm not sure what letter front sight you will need, but in doing some quick math, you'll need a front sight that is about .073" higher than your current front sight to zero up your 165 grain load at 100 yards.

Apparantly I need an "A" sight blade. Anyone know where they are available. I'm at work and not able to do any searches today.

Wayne Smith,
I made mine out of a washer the right thickness using a Dremel Tool and files. This way you can make just what you need. I left mine tall and filed to the correct height a little at a time while shooting my selected load. When done take a little cold blue to the sight with a Q-tip to darken it.
