Hi I am a new member and needed some info on the above title . I have a Marbles flexible rear sight for the Winchester model 1895 , number W12 . With the original box and instructions. The only other thing on the box is 303,35 and 30 gov't rimless. Also the instructions that came with it reads 11-16-23. Any info about this sight would be appreciated.

The Marble's "Flexible" Sight was spring loaded so it would push out of the way of the Winchester 95's bolt as it came back to eject the empty and flex back forward as the bolt went forward to reload a new shell. This feature allowed the sight to mount on the tang without the necessity of manually pushing the sight back in place everytime the action was worked. A lot of owners used a receiver sight instead of a tang sight on the 95 so they would not have to do this, and the "Flexible" sight was offered as an alternative.

The sight staff is apparently set up for the trajectories of the 303 British, the .35 Winchester and the .30-03 Springfield cartridges. Probably slightly different staff lengths or spacings of lines were needed for the .30-40, the .30-06, the .405 Winchester and the .40 and .38 blackpowder cartridges the 95 was chambered for.

Sights of that vintage in their original boxes are getting to be "collectors' items."
