A few days ago I purchased a used 5 cavity NOE 311331 mold. See link below :

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?202793-NOE-311331-218-gr-RN

It is a very nice mold and the " numbers " ( drive bands and nose diameters ) on it seem to be about ideal for my many .30 cal. rifles.

As many of you know , I enjoy shooting plain base .30 cal. cast bullets.

So, .........having a 5 cavity mold, it only seemed logical for me to remove the g/c shank in at least one of the cavities.

Can't wait to try these out ! !

Ben, Ben, Ben... when are you going to learn that you can't just go drilling out the gas check shank on a mould and expect good results!

Seriously, you have me thinking I should be giving this a try. I like PB boolits (I am lazy and cheap so gas checks mean more cost and more work).

Actually I did try with my old Lyman 314299 but silly me, I chucked it in my lathe to remove the gas check shank and overshot a bit on diameter... oops! I should have just drilled it.

Once again, it looks like you have done a good job and I am betting you will be posting some more one hole groups making me jealous of you shooting skills.

you will be posting targets, right?

Yes, I'll be heading to the range in a few days with some of the NOE 311331 plain base bullets loaded with some of my " pet loads." I'll take my camera.

I've got these sized .311 " & lubed with Ben's Red, and coated with 45/45/10. They are dry and ready to load.
