Does anyone know how the front ramp on a recent Marlin 1895 45-70 is attatched? My book shows 2 screws but I only see one and when I take it out the ramp is still tight. Is there another screw under the front post?

The gun is getting a scout scope and I would like to take the front ramp off entirely.

Thanks! and I will post pics when I get the scope mounted tomorrow.

Figures they would make it difficult...kind of a dumb design.

It was put THERE so that even if the screws loosened you would still have one that couldn't be lost or drop out. With both screws exposed folks would occasionally drop off the ramp unintended.

Ok that does make some sense. Regardless, it is off now without any trouble. I just did not want to push the front blade out only to find the thing was brazed on. All I need now are a couple filler screws to fit the holes.

As always this forum has the answers!
