I was procuring some scrap lead today when I ran across a large box of new (but dirty) 0.356 diameter professionally cast boolits. I do not recognize them and cannot find any loading data on the weights for 9mm.

If loaded in standard 9mm pistol brass, there is hardly any room left for the powder!

Please let me know! I was just planning on melting them down as they are 20+bnh.

they aren't for a 9mm.
thats most likely 38sp/357mag that are undersized.
Could be some cowboy action round that is .355/.354 in diam

could be 38 super

If you have a .38 Special or .357 magnum, try them.

They will probably work just fine.

If they lead, tumble them in a liquid lube like LLA or Xlox.

You do NOT need to remove the existing lube before tumbling them.

See:

They are WAY too hard. If you decide to melt them mix them 50/50 with pure lead or 75/25 with wheel weights. ( 75% wheel weights )

WAY too hard. I'd melt them, and use them to bump up the hardness of my alloy.

So, I'm with williamwaco on this.

The limiting factor is probably going to be what OAL they feed and/or chamber at. I load a .357 bullet in my 9mm all the time and the length of that SWC is .745 so just about the same length as the 9mm case. But I can load it out to 1.145 now if I had to go down below 1.100 it would never work.

They look like H&G's, They are no longer in business. The one on the right was designated SGG:LM design (Square Grease Groove /Large Meplat) Dean Grennell was very fond of them as I recall.

I am thinking someone put them together for an old colt 38 special target revolver.
