The Red (sockeye) salmon are running on the Russian River and I have caught my limit of 3 in two consecutive trips (Quite a blast on a fly rod). Also a nice plump Dolly Varden trout that hit my salmon fly. I really love Alaska summers!

Oh, man! I'm beyond jealous. Nice pair of reds there.

I am way jealous. Got to love catching them on the fly rod. Do you need a fishing partner????

They are claiming record numbers passing through the counters on the copper, this after claiming it would be a bad salmon year for several months. lol I guess the salmon just didn't know what the biologist predicted.

I was down on the rich yesterday, and seemed like every other pickup had dipnets in it.

I already have family and friends flying up on two different occasions in July/Aug, but c'mon up and I'll get you pointed in the right direction.

I wish it weren't so expensive to ship this stuff. We actually did some shrimping out of Whittier and got some some really nice spotted and tiger shrimp.

I am surprised the mosquitos hadn't lifted you off the ground by the bare arms. Must be too early for the mosquitos.

Fish taste fishy, unless they are cod or cat fish deep fried.

Too early? Not hardly. I covered myself with bug spray before venturing on the river. Mosquitos are actually worse in my yard though.
