Contemplating buying this to use for hunting in two .30-06 rifles.

I'm sure it's a good design and it seems like my dad used to have one, but will this mold do anything hunting wise that a 311041 or similar won't do?

They were tough to find, I don't know if Accurate, MiHec or NOE offers one. I like Luverins and believe that they shoot well in many guns.

As a Loverin it is more suited to fitting different throats, I doubt a beast shot with either would be able to tell the difference.

I have one of the 314407 Modified group buy moulds by NOE and am very satisfied with it. I also have the Lee 6 cav. group buy 311041 mould. The Loverin design is easier to get accuracy with.

I have a 4 cavity NOE that is a booger to cast with. It has a sweet spot the size of a gnat's bottom where it will cast good boolits. Below that range, it suffers from poor fillout, above it frosts like crazy. It was very difficult to get it to release boolits, consequently it was very hard to keep the mold temp up. I resorted to leementing the mold which helped some, but it is still the most irksome mold I have.

I also have a 4 cavity Lyman 311-41. It is much more docile, casts easily, and drops the boolits like rain.

As far as shooting goes, at least in my guns, if the difference in group size was your day's wage, you'd starve.

I like the 31141 and now have the four cavity NOE group buy of it. The bullets my old Ideal single cavity casts have shot pretty well in all the .30s I've tried so far, maybe four or five rifles.

I think I'll let this 311407 pass.
