I decided recently that the time had come to reload my ever amassing pile of 40cal brass for an upcoming church picnic/turkey shoot (yea we still do that here...save for the live turkey) only to discover my powder magazine to be lacking of much variety of pistol powders. I usualy use unique for sbout everything and didnt have a chance to stockpile much before the drive last winter, so that option will be used for my other favorites .38spl.... i have a bit of universal, plenty green dot, and a few other shotgun type powders.

Question is, in the lean times what recepes are y'all using in your 40cals?

180 grain caast boolit and 4.0 Red Dot. About 850 FPS, and I use it almost exclusively.

I use bullseye for my econo rounds. Seems to last forever.

I use Promo 4.0 for Lee 401-175-TC (standard lube) it drops at 180 gr and I get 930 fps. For Lyman 401654 I use Promo 4.2 gr for 1000 fps. Both are winners in my G22.

I have loaded a lot of Unique and Blue Dot in .40 cal. They both work fine.

5.7gr WSF 180gr set to 1.125 OAL. Bullet doesn't matter. Cast, jacketed, plated. Do as I indicated and you'll have a great 925-950fps load.

Qft.

WSF is a great powder in 40sw. 5.7gr is a nice light-medium load.

That was my standard load when loading for law enforcement training ammo. Sold well to LE and the LGS.
