Just ordered a new Ped Lightning with 26" barrel in 44/40. The factory twist rate is 1: 36" so a short stubbie boolit would be needed. A friend has a Taurus Thunderbolt 45LC pimp but to get realiable feed he has trimmed the cases by .060 else they jam.

Any uses of these rifles with tips?

I will comment only on the Tarus twist rate in .45 Colt; my rifle is a Puma. The twist rate on this rifle is 1:32 and does not stabilize 240 grain and heavier bullets driven at velocities/pressure acceptable to a SAA revolver. Mine does best with a 200 grain wadcutter over 9.5 grains of Unique. I don't feet that load to my revolver but at least I don' confuse rifle and pistol ammo.

I use the 200gr MAV big lube boolit in my 44-40's but I'm using BP as well.

Thanks Wayne,

I have a 210gn Lyman "Cowboy" mould that should be OK in the 1:36" twist. Much as I live and breath all rifles that shoot BP, I can't see myself using black in a $2300 rifle!
