I'm getting old am looking for some help with my 44 mag guns
looking for some lite boolits for hunting deer and smaller animals
I'm thinking of using 215 grain gc boolits for less recoil in my revolvers and rifles
currently using 310 and 240 swc gc fairly accurate but want something that will travel 2000 fps in rifle
I want accuracy and less recoil but strong enough to anchor a Midwest deer
I have 5 44 mag revolvers and 3 leveraction rifles
thanks for your thoughts

No one bullet diameter and weight / powder / OAL combo is going to fit all of those guns well.
Maybe you want to narrow it down to just a couple of guns and start there?

I'd bet a GC'd 429215 cast of COWWs +2% tin and then 50/50'd with lead would fill the bill in all of them, especially if loaded over 2400, BlueDot, H110 or 296.

Larry, I'll bet you meant to type 429215, and that would be my first recommendation also.

Simply reduce the power of your loads.

As above the lyman 429215 would be a top choice !

I have had geat sucess with the Saeco # 420 200gr tc bullet in at least 8 different 44 mag revolvers but i only push them between 850 to 1,300 fps!
. for 2,000 fps i recomend a GC bullet .

Yup, that's what I meant, corrected it. Thanks for the catch.

I second that bet!

a gaschecked 429215 and 2400 was my favorite combination in a Winchester trapper. That's an excellent boolit IMO that's really been overlooked by a lot of handloaders. It gets scarce mention in most gun magazines that focus on lots bigger boolits, but so what? Stop and think about it--that boolit is only a bit heavier than what was, for well over a century, the factory offering in 44-40. With its gascheck design, you can push it pretty fast if you want to. Or not. Accurate? You bet. Accurate enough to plink at clay pigeon fragments at a measured hundred yards with nary a miss. Felt recoil is noticeably less than with the 240's that get loaded into most 44 magnums, too. My Winchester was one of those post-64 trappers that had a lever that rattled quite a bit, so I didn't take it deer hunting, but if I had, I never would have felt undergunned--at least not out to 100 yards.

The 44 mag is a favorite of mine but the days of 23 grains of H110 are just about over. I hate getting older. I'm not sure if you want to kill things or punch holes in paper. For killing things with very light/quiet loads I like the 429303 with Bullseye. Just like a big version of a 22 Super Colibri. Aquilla pointed those 20 grain rimfire bullets for good reason.
