Not counting the old Winchester 62A pump with tang sight it would be the run of the mill Win 94 .30-30 with receiver sight and cast boolits. Lot's of fun there!

Jeeez, that's like asking me who is my favorite girlfriend.

Answer is: Whichever one I'm with at the time.

AS said, that is a hard question to answer

However, there is nothing like a day in the woods with a RUGER #1.

My current one happens to be a #1S - 45/70 and with my 465gr cast Wide Flat Nose bullets it is awesome on deer and elk.!

Mine would be my Contender 21 inch 7TCU carbine wearing it's pretty little purple laminate thumbhole stock.

this opinion is subject to change at any time and without prior notice however.

The last one I would ever sell would be my Marlin 1894C. But there are plenty of other rifles that get loved all the time :)

It's so hard to choose...I rarely shoot it, but my first gun was an old single shot 22 that belonged to my great grandfather and subsequently my grandfather...and is now mine...it means a lot to me

Whew! Had to go check my safe and make sure my M54 '06 with my Lyman aperture sight was still there. Love them all but this one shoots just about any cast load well and is a a joy to look at and handle.

1900 mfg Winchester Model 1895 in .30-40. With a paper patched 200 grain soft cast bullet it will make meat to 300. That is if you can eat coyote as that is the only thing I have shot that far out with it.

A pre depression Winchester Mod 67a bought for my father when he was 10 yrs old and given to me when I was 10. Kept it when I sold everything else way back when. It has friends in the safe again.

Guess the question is, when your out with that one - are you thinking about another one?
Do you lust in your heart for a new one no matter which old one your with?
Are you like me and love them ALL?

A hard choice, for a long time it was my 444 marlin but the left hand ruger GSR may steal the title . The styer m95 , the mosin 91/30 the Sks and the 1899 savage are some real close seconds

My favorite rifle is still this old 50-70.

Or maybe this 405 WCF

It is a real toss up between them. Using these rifles has allowed me to be free of the 45-70!

If Cpt. Jean-Luke Piccard of the Starship Enterprise was to beam me away forever to my own virgin planet rich with game, I'd take my Winchester model 54 .30-'06. Has killed truckloads of game over the years, and is completely trustworthy, like an experienced horse who loves its master.

Impossible to answer- they're all favorites! Two I'm thinking about right now are both reliable and accurate. One a 168 year old military arm and the other a newer factory sporter bolt gun. About as different from each other as I have, but both are the best of the best for their purpose- IMO.

Can't answer that, because NSA, DHS, FBI and probably the U.N. is watching and listening.

When I was a kid, my father had one of Dr. Gatling's creations on a beautiful mahogany tripod. All that brass & bronze and mahogany was amazing to look at.

Perhaps this is why I see guns not just as tools for defense and feeding your family. Or, devices for recreation, but also as works of art.

Still don't know who my father sold or traded the Gatling Gun to.

A favorite? If I still had that Gatling Gun, that would probably be it. But then it's not a rifle as the OP specified.

I do think the Winchesters are the most elegant looking of the lever actions. The Henrys and '66s, '73s and '76s, the '86s and '95s all get equal attention from me. Because of my penchant for big bore levers, the the latter 3 models might cause me to daydream a little more.
Always wanted to have a '76 and an '86 chambered in the "express" calibers.

I would have to say it is my Remington Model 8 in .25 Rem currently. The mild cartridge lets all the mechanical music of the old spring pole shine through.

My Rossi 92 in 357 (the one in my avitar) would be my most used rifle apart from my Brno Model 2 (that is used by every new shooter that comes to the range). I really liek the Rossi, never misses a beat. Near enough the cheapest rifle I have ever bought (not counting milsurps and roughies) and it is working out to be one of the best. My M17 Remington has been around for awhile and has served well also.

If I was to get down to one though, I think it would have to be something a bit more flexible, perhaps my 222 Rem 788.

Savage Model 110 in 270 WIN. My first rifle after the 22. First rifle I handloaded for. I bought it used for $300 with a Tasco scope and it has stayed dead on ever since. It is a little beat up and it doesn't have an Accu-trigger but I love it.

My Remington 700 Classic in 8X57 (8MM) Mauser (thank you RockRat). It was NIB when I got it, and I promptly took it out and added some scratches and dings. It has killed many a coyote.

Pet load is 45 gr of Benchmark loaded under a 170 Hornady round nose bullet. Shoots into the vitals all the way out to 400 yds!

For me it's still my first rifle, a Remington 580 single shot 22. Shooting that one never gets old, though I have dozens of others.

The first gun I ever bought, a SAKO L46 Vixen in .222 Remington. Still accurate, light weight, handy with its low receiver peep on integral bases, good for anything from ground squirrels up to deer. An excellent walking around gun.

Not a tough question at all. My favorite rifle is my Mauser ES340B single shot .22. made in 1929 and in my possession since 1968. If I could only have one gun this would be it.

I just shot Rimfire Silhouette with it last Saturday. Shot 28/40 with open sights. I can remove the scope and reattach with no change in zero, which has been done hundreds of times since 1978.

Best gun I've ever owned bar none. My Kel-Tec SU-16 and Ruger GSR are fighting for second place.

As for factory produced sporting rifles I guess the Model 70 Winchester is still as good as it gets. Although I really prefer something stamped, U.S. Springfield.

Hard to nail down one but for hunting it would be my Rem 700 in .270 I had a H.S. Precision stock put on it and a trigger job. My Marlin 94 in .357 is a favourite I'm also very fond of my beat up old Marlin semi-auto .22 all this is with no sentimental considerations. If I still had a place to rifle hunt every year it would definitely be my .270 FB

this is an easy one, ive owned many firearms and my tastes have changed like the seasons over the years but my Arsenal SGL 31-84 will never be sold. this rifle is accurate for its purpose and reliable. the 5.45x39 cartridge ranks as one of my all time favorites yielding low recoil, good accuracy, and proven killing power (for both 2 and 4 legged targets). at 50 yards this rifle will repeatedly shoot 3/4" groups if I do my part (take it slow) and 3" groups at 100 yards are the norm (im limited by my choice in optics). in the future I will pick up a secondary optic for 100 yard plus shooting such as a 3 or 4 power scope.

Well, for a sporting rifle, it would probably be one of these Winchester Model 70s. Not sure which though. 270 Pre-War, 30/06 circa 1958 or the 243 Featherweight circa early 60s. They each have their advantages.

I have a growing love for a certain wildcat in an unlikely action from Tierni Italy,as a matter of action feel nothing comes close to a certain Springfield piece despite its warrior status. 1 w/a true connection that surpasses the others,i can't do it. It'd be like picking a finger to keep, there are a couple I'd trade away pretty quick for another.......

Favorite for various reasons would be my Type 38 in 6.5X257.
Built by John Hannah and I in 1968-9 OR SO.
Classic clunky Herter's stock. Many may say they were clunky, but that stock is my favorite in my hands, feels great.
