I confess I am just starting to learn about the 300 BLK. I have a stripped lower that I am thinking about building it in 300 BLK.

From what I have been reading seems like the magnum pistol powders are some of the top choices for loads. Seems like many use h110, little gun, 1680 and 4227. I have never read about anyone using 2400 however. Anyone tried it? Or am I missing something that would keep it from being a good possibility?

I haven't tried it either. But have read of accounts here of it being used in an AR. Add 5744 to your list. I usually use h110 for lighter j-words, lil gun for most everything else.

I tried it with the 247 NOE bullet. It would not cycle. I went with 5744.

In the AR you have to match your pressure at the port to the powder so that the gun gets enough gas to function.
2400 doesn't cycle mine (carbine gas position) - I don't know if it would work in the pistol gas port position.
I use 680 and 5744 in my AR

I've got one in pistol, one in carbine. Neither will cycle with 2400.

The questions is mainly geared towards my effort to limit the number of powders I use. Not really a big deal I do have a couple of lbs of h110 and a lb of little gun. I use them mostly in my limited 410 loading. My current supply would last a long time for the amount of 410 I shoot. I have never cared for h110 or little gun mainly due to they leak badly in my powder measure and never cared for the inability to reduce charges of H110.

2400 and a few others I keep in larger quantity and it would be nice to find a load for one of those powders. How about 4198 I think I have read of some using it. Anyone have good success with it? At this point I don't think I will load subsonic and in the beginning and I will try my lee 155 gr SKS mold for the bullet. I would guess if I come across the BLK mold in stock I would pick that up as well.

As I said I don't even have the gun yet and I will most likely wait until the uppers come back to normal prices and availability. I order powers online in large orders once or twice a year and will most likely order powder again before I get the gun built and would like to include what powder I think I may use in my next powder order. What powder I can find at LGS is over prices even when factoring in shipping.

2400 will work well in a bolt gun but as others have said it will not cycle the action on an AR. I had good results with 2400 and the Lee 312-155-2R in my bolt gun.

Before I got Lil Gun, I tried a couple with 2400 and the Lee 155 boolit. I took a guess and went conservative wih may charge and found that it ejected but wouldn't strip the next round or lock open on an empty. I got a pound of Lil Gun and never tried to develop the 2400 loads.

my pet load is the lee 312-155 with 17 gr of reloader 7. Very accurate, cycles action and locks the bolt back on last round.

I don't have a lot of experience with it yet. The 2400 would eject but not pick up the next round. The recoil was noticeably high and the primers were showing pressure signs.
I had some luck with RL-7 but so far my best group has been with AA2230S 1.5" at a 100yd for 5 rounds. Ejection, bullet strip, and lock back were all good. The boolit was the Lee 155gr sized .311 cast from WWs with a little Lino added and water dropped, Brinel 17.
I haven't had a chance to follow up on that load though oor chrono it.
