For a few years now I have been wanting to take a one piece grip and make a two piece. I did not want to cut up my original grips so I purchased a set of used birdshead grips and back straps. I ran into a few problems right off the bat. One backstrap was shorter than the other and both grips did not fit real good. I decided to weld and extension on the short grip, install the grip and let it go. On the other, I cut the grip right down the middle, drilled and installed the grip screw. I then sanded the grip to fit and polished up the "antiqued" backstrap to a satin finish. I left the grip in natural wood and just added ballistol oil. I guess it is what it is for now.
