The first one is a LBT .250, 60 grain spritzer . Veral designs his own equipment, molds , and bullets . That are proven to be accurate . And he is willing to design bullets for those of us that cast for air rifles . These molds have not been cleaned yet . They are all straight out of the box .

The next two are the new Lee mold design . Quite a improvement IMO . This one is a .311-100-2R .

And this one is a .309 -113- F

They will need the cutters smoothed, and the pivot screw loosened before use .But for $25.00 I can deal with it . Will do some casting and see how the size on all 3 comes out .Marvin

Tell us more about the .25 cal airgun pellet, what make of gun/barrel are you using? I'd like to order a mold for my .25 but am unsure of the size and if the bullet should be .001" oversize like on a std. cast bullet.

I have three 25 caliber AR . Two have LW choked barrels . With a larger groove diameter . With the choked barrel I have to use 10-15- bhn lead or the lead shears to the base of the bullet and leads the barrel as well at the choked point . I have this mold in a .252 for them . This mold is for a 201S that I put a 25 caliber TJ barrel liner on . It barely measures .250 Normally I run groove diameter or no more than .001 over . And that only if accuracy demands it . You can always size down . And Veral has kits to slug with if need be . Remember that we are using low chamber pressure with a high volume of air {or gas}. And what a small amount of leakage that might take place is not a big issue . It is a cool gas not hot as well . To large of a oversize can cause high air consumption due to hanging the exhaust valve open longer . As well as cause excess friction that can slow the bullet down . Marvin

Thanks Marvin, I'm using an AirArms 510 Extra in .25 and have tried Lyman's 51 grain bullet meant for the .25 ACP and at 40 yds groups about 1" whereas the H&N Baracudas are doing 1/4", so I don't know if it's the design or sizing causing the inaccuracies.

I recently bought 4 new 2 cavity Lee molds and found the pivot bolts come loose on them. Also the sprue plates need some polishing around some of the sprue holes and on the leading edge of the plate. I drilled and tapped for a 6-48 screw to secure the pivot bolt as the shoulder is too short on a couple of them and if you back them off so the plate will move easily the screw is loose.
But like you say, not bad for $25.00!

I removed the cutter and smoothed it and the mold . Ajaxed the mold , used anti- seize on the pivot , and placed a little steel wool in the pivot hole to hold the screw in place . I have never had a mold as oily as these Lees were this time . Was still getting wrinkles when ever thing was hot after about 30 bullets . Threw the bullets back in the pot . Found my brake clean , gave the cavities a good spray and began to cast nice shiny wrinkle free bullets . Dropping at .3095 and 116 grains . Have been sizing to .309 for my Corsair so I am going to see how these shoot tomorrow un-sized . Not a bad looking bullet for a $25.00 mold IMO . Marvin

I just replaced an old Lee that was giving me trouble. I got one of the new designs too. A real improvement all around like you said. I especially like the mold I.D. on top, and the handles look like they can be removed too. The sprue plate is drilled and tapped too instead of the self tapping screw. I've had a few of the older ones where the sprue was lifted off the mold face by the aluminum that was upset by the tapping screw. Getting the screws out to file the it flat was real iffy. I broke one.

Went to the range today . Looks like I have a accurate bullet at 50 yards . 10 shot string in the 10 ring with a bullet out of a $25.00 mold is a good starting point for me . And no sizing required .Marvin

Used #2 today . I have this mold in the old design . The bullet has been accurate for me . But the mold is in need of work so I bought this one . I had to clean this mold 3 times and throw about 75 bullets back into the pot because of the oil that kept the mold from filling out and kept it producing wrinkled bullets . Almost reached for the old mold but I wanted this task behind me . Ended up with almost 5 1/2 pounds of .312 diameter bullets at 102 grains . Which is what the old mold was doing as well . I use these in my 909 with a TJ barrel liner with a groove of .312 so there is no need to size this bullet . Here is a picture of the bullet . Not bad for a $25.00 mold .Marvin

Used #1 the LBT mold today . There was nothing to de-bur . Cleaned and lubed . Had to spray again but nothing like the Lee molds . Drops at .2505 and 61.7 grains . Ended up with 4 pounds of good bullets. Have a .252 in this design that is a accurate bullet so I do not expect a problem with this one . Not a bad looking bullet for a $125.00 mold IMO .Marvin

We need a cast bullet airgun section......does the 61 grain bullet not just go too slow? I'd like some thing around 35-45 grains.

I guess that would depend on what you call slow . Marvin

I charge mine to 200bar and wouldn't get anything like that, I'm getting those speeds with a 31 gr. Baracuda pellet.
