Harpman, you win the prize for being the sharpest among us. It was bound to occur to somebody sooner or later. That looks to be about a 1 oz. weight (437.5 gr.) Hope you backed off on the powder charge!

Personally, I think he needs to flare the case mouth just a tad. I think shaving boolits shows ingnorance of the art.

The steel clip will help orient the boolit so you can chamber it exactly the same shot to shot.
I think this one was so good that it should stay number one on the forum forever!
I laughed so hard that we never want to lose this one, GREAT JOB!

just push some inside, take yer whitlin knife and cut it off. the case will form the boolet(as in pressed, vs cast boolit)....
no need fer them silly sizing dies, wipe a little chaw on it fer lube.....

I sure am glad no one told him to fill the case with powder up to the neck and then get the torch out to melt a sized wadcutter right on top of the powder. Glad I'm the only weird one of the bunch. Gianni.
PS PLease don't do this, try this or tell anybodyelse to.

I must be missing something or getting a crossed line, but when I hit the link a couple of bands on stage come up. I've been at the range all day and it is almost hot enough to melt ingots on the driveway, I'm hot and pooped, maybe not just sharp enough this arvo.

CLIP?? I always thought that was the gas check!! Question though?? Is the clip legal in California, kind of looks like the dreaded banana clip!!!

Now load it full of the fastest powder ya got, preferably powder from G.I. blanks, make up a bunch of em, & call in Janet Reno, the Brady's, the Clintons, the Kennedy's (especially Ted) & don't forget the rest of 'em. Have them each touch one off with a BFA on the end of the barrel. (blank firing attachment for the non-military) Don't forget the pix!!:Fire: :drinks:

Have you sent this picture to Lee yet??

Not sure where I saw it.

But sometime ago there was a picture of a guy with a m/L, mallet, ww, rag & patch knife all in the proper sequence.

Thought that was funny too.

Knife in his teeth, rag over the muzzle, ww on the muzzle and mallet dropping.
"drive a chunk in, cut the patch=====!!"

Humor huh?

MT Gianni:

I know what you're thinking. "Modified Speer Hot Core process". The problem is that that wheel weight probably doesn't contain enough antimony to keep it from shrinking when it cools. The then-undersized slug would not seal the bore and subsequently allow enough gas blow-by to coat the bore with lead micro-droplets. The second and subsequent shots would not be adequately spin stabilized, causing embarassment and possibly pecuniary liability for the shooter. ;-)

Having said that, Thanks Harpman, for a truly excellent photo.

Have to agree with Vegas Vince on this one, more force will cure it. While a long sectionof pipe on the handle might be a good start (say another 5 feet), I would give into a real swaging press before I added 2 feet of pipe.

Now if I only had that much imagination...........

You boys got it wrong. Probably work better if he had a Dillon 1050 press with the automatic bullet feeder. That Lee Press single stage is to slow.

Took me awhile to figure out, I live North of the Border, but what he is really doing here is swaging his own bullets out fo wheelweights using the case as a jacket. Am I close?

Funny you should you mention that Bob, I spoke with a friend of mine today who works at a race car shop about giving me old lead weights they use in transfering the center of gravity in round track cars . He told me they make their own from lead they get from the local pistol range, melted down and molded into weights and I can have their old ones. Talking about recycling, from weights to bullets back to weights then to bullets who knows how many times.

Uh, you may want to do the following in order:

Slug your bore

Slug your cylinder throats

Slug yourself

if that dosen't work, disassemble your sizing die and clean and polish all surfaces thoroughly.

Have you considered neck sizing?

I'm woncering if anyone has seen a "go" gage to match.

Please use a magnum primer!

I can't stop I'm laughing too hard to eat my leftover bird sandwich.

Best post I've seen in a while!:drinks:
