I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times here. I have done many searches but just can't find what I am looking for. I have been using 4.5g of Unique for my loads with OAL of 1.15 and I am very happy with the results. The Unique is running out and now I have 1 pound of Bullseye and 3 pounds of Titegroup. Does anybody have any pet loads for this boolit with these powders. I also cast 230g 45 ACP and 158g 38 SPL. If these powders are not a good choice for the 9mm what are your thoughts for the other two. Thanks for your help.

I use the Titegroup data in my Lyman Cast bullet Handbook, for both 9mm and 45 ACP with cast bullets, and Bullseye is a classic powder for the cartridges you mention...

I just Chrony'd some rounds with the same bullet over Unique last week. Here are my results: they were fired from a S&W 5943 with 4 inch barrel. I used COWW for the Lee TL 356 124 gr mold. Boolits dropped at about 130gr. They were loaded over 4.3/4grs of Unique with OAL of 1.115. Average velocity was 999.04fps, high of 1011, low of 992.9. Extreme spread of 18.1. Seven rounds were Chronographed for this data. About 30 were fired with several as the only rounds to check slide lock. All locked the slide back, fed and functioned well. Accuracy impressed me. Offhand at about 18ft I was making quite a few overlapping ragged holes. No keyholes evident on paper. I hope this helps. This was my first loading with these bullets. Cases were mixed headstamps, primers were Tulammo standard small pistol. They were loaded on a Lee Pro 1000 using Autodisk Powder Measure #.57, which is larger than the Lee data stated to give the proper charge checked with a PACT powder scale. Temp outside was 89 degrees F at test firing. i used the load data from Lyman's Cast Bullet 4th ed, pg 248 for the RCBS 9mm 124gr.

I load 4.2 grains 700X with that bullet sized to .356. Functions every 9mm handgun I have and is accurate.

4 grains of Red Dot for 124 9mm, 200 45 acp and 158 357. Simple.

Question: I have Unique but would like to use Bullseye and Titegroup, which of these powders will work for 9mm, 45, 38.

Answer: I like pie.[smilie=s:

Another answer:
Both Bullseye and Titegroup will work to your satisfaction. Of course you know that they are both more dense than Unique so be sure you look into the cases before seating the bullet to ensure you don't double or triple charge the case. I've found that Bullseye will get almost the same velocities as Unique with about 10% less powder for the same peak pressure so check the load data, but you can probably get almost the same performance with about 4.0g BE and that 9mm bullet.

5.0g Bullseye under a 230g bullet has been the original military 1911 load forever. I am happy with about 4.5g and have no need for those last few fps'.

4.0g BE is great under a 158g 38 spcl bullet (I use the Lee 358-158-RF bullet, but this year my favorite load is 5.0g Unique simply because I used up most of my 4# jug of BE last year and in November, I bought an 8# jug of Unique).

The only thing about Bullseye is that even when used at full pressure, it leaves a thin coat of soot everywhere. In the black autoloaders, it's not noticeable. With a stainless steel revolver, the gun looks like it's blued within 100 rounds. It cleans off OK, but takes a little more elbow grease and time than with other powders.

I agree with zombiwoof. 3.9-4.0 grains of red dot. My mold is the regular lube grooves not TL. I found accuracy to very dependent on OAL. Bullet was seated on lands at 1.090. 1.075 worked great.
