In another thread I expressed some dissatisfaction with a Lee mold I am using for .45 ACP. I am going to attempt some fixes, but in the meantime, I am planning on acquiring another mold. I am looking at the NOE 454 230Gr. RN 4 cavity PB (H&G 34). I am not worried about how well it will work in my revolver, but am curious to know if anyone here has experience with this mold in .45 ACP autoloaders. I have several, one being the venerable 1911. I don't mind spending the money. I just want to get as much info as I can before I do.

Thanks.

I spoke too soon. I missed the H&G34 when I read the OP.

I have that mold from NOE, and was out shooting some of those very boolits in my 1911's a couple of days ago. That's the second time I had loaded & shot that boolit. They do shoot very well in MY 1911's. Point of impact doesn't differ much from my 200 gr SWC's. Very accurate boolit. You'll like it. Mike

Thanks. I searched and searched here before posting about this, and got responses that had no bearing on my search at all. So I went out to Google and started looking around, and the first couple of hits brought me to back to the board here. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. I know that my results may be different, but this is encouraging.

I have that mold and really like it and the boolits it makes. The tiny little shoulder on the boolit will let you adjust the fit to the throat in your 1911. If your gun is short throated, seat a bit deeper, long throated, seat it out. You can see any engraving from the throat on the shoulder of a sized boolit and of course feel it with the "plunk test".

That is good to hear. I wrote Al this afternoon, got a response back, and ordered his four banger mold. :-D I'm still going to see if I can rehab my beveled base mold to make it work the way I want, but I have a feeling I might just sell it.

I did not know he sells handles, but I have a set already that will fit. I may end up buying some more later on, but for now I do have some limitations to my budget. ;-) My wife does not care what I spend, as long as I sell something else to spend it first. Otherwise, I need to do some fast talking. [smilie=1:
