Hi All
Was given a box of goodies the other day, "you do guns, maybe you can do something with this old stuff".
Among other things, there is a bunch of these 180 grain rifle bullets, some checked, some not, but a bunch of checks. Measure at .309, I think they may be the ticket for my old US 30-40.
Does anyone recognise the mold?, and they may need to be re-lubed. The box was store apparently in a hot place, the lube has gotten sticky and runny.
Thoughts?

Thanx in advance72896

Almost like a 311291, but too many lube grooves. Not sure. Does it have a RN or FN?

If they work, send a few of them to Tom at Accurate molds, and he will duplicate them at no charge. You get a premium mold, exactly like the samples, and he's pretty fast too. What else could you ask for?

RCBS 180 FN? except most of those weigh in closer to 195 gr.

Thanx for the replies. They are in fact Flat nose and there is evidence in this box that 30-30 was one of the things he was in to. They consistantly are just under 190 with the checks He at least loaded for a 30-30 Contender as some are marked that way.
It really is kinda fun trying get into the former owner's mind set. We coulda been good friends.

I am not set up to do cast rifle bullets. Will need some direction installing checks on those that don't have and re-doing the lube. I am going to try these in the US 30-40.

311041 seems pretty likely, nominal wt is 174, so 190 is heavy.
