So I was filling up my car the other day, I went inside and paid for it. As i came out of the store and was walking back to my car, I was looking around and happened to see a small item lying in the parking lot. As I got closer i got a little excited. I bent down and picked it up and sure enough I got my self one free wheel weight. Its not much but it's enough lead for atleast one boolit! Its the small things that make me happy!

It's goods to find free stuff!

Last time I was at Bell Tire getting some new rubber, I asked for some wheel weights. Well, they said that they HAD to send them to a recycler. I went outside to ponder my bad luck when near the first bay I looked down and there was a wheel weight! While picking it up I noticed another......then another. After I stopped out of front of all of the bays I ended up with about 3 pounds!

Next company that wants to sell me some tires will be adding in the wheel weights as part of the sale agreement negotiations!

I have read on the forum we have members who walk around at intersections and fine 'em all the time! Seems dangerous, looking down when you should be looking up?

Score, man!

I've often thought about buying a set of those pliers they use to pull wheel weights, and hitting the walmart parking lot after dark.

That would be my luck. And the killer/rapist probably got a much lighter sentence than I did.

I went walking Monday and came across 2 within a blocks. They are already converted to 225-415 boolits with flat black powder coating :)

Yup, would you believe I paid with a check too, and didn't have to show my id, and even wrote it for the next day when my pay check would be put in. Got to love the small town!

I used to get excited about finding lead and lead alloys. I still grab it or buy it if it is cheap. I did some quick figuring and I could easily cast 350,000 200 gr boolits that are a strong alloy.

I was thinking that if I woke up dead one morning my people would prolly scrap it or pay somebody to take it away.
It is my plan to build a wood fired smelter this year.

I'm always jumping out getting a ww at intersections waiting for the light to turn green. It adds up over time....

You guys are scaring me. How can you drive and look for WW's at the same time. And even more, how do you see a WW while you're driving?

^It can get a little tricky. Between adjusting the radio, texting, and looking for wheel weights. Hell, sometimes I even watch the road! Silly, I know.

My local pick-a-part auto scrap yard was a good discovery.

They require a $10 deposit to walk around the yard, and since i spotted dozens of WW in the first few rows of cars, i ran to my car, grabbed pliers and a big slot screwdriver and a 5 gal bucket and went to work. About 45 min later i had probably 150 WW and realized i was running late for a meeting.

When i went to check out of the yard and get my deposit back, they asked what parts i got. I said just a bunch of wheel weights. They gave me back the deposit, said have a nice day.

My wife thought I was crazy a few weeks back when I threw the van in park and leaned out the driver's door and picked up one at a stop sign. She asked "what are you doing?!"
