I find that I want to see the pointer on my beam scale at the level of the pointer, not from above. So, I built a simple little stand for it. Not only does it not take up bench space, it provides a bit more by getting the scale up off the bench.

The left end has two screws in it. The right end, shown here, has only one. If there's a bit of wobble to the stand, I can twist the right end piece to firm it up.

The top is 4" wide by 18" long. The end pieces are 9" high with a 9" base. It's fairly steady and is working good so far.

I got Janet to switch the colors on the end of the beam pointer. Now my eyes don't play tricks on me.

Mine's at eye level, adjustable for level, weighted with lead ingots to keep it from possibly moving and I put a magnifying glass in front of it. Only place to have one isn't it?

I bought a wood over the sink type shelf with legs at the dollar store to do the same thing. Hate bending down and squinting to see the scale. Yours is nicer.

Congratulations on knowing about how to look at the pointer and doing something about it. Using a balance (not a scale) was part of my profession and you got it right.

Having the scale at eye level makes for easier and accurate readings. A bright and contrasting fingernail polish color makes the pointer and scale markings more visible.
