Wanted to start a thread on handloading this new mold. Got some advice from a friend on loadings and got some testers loaded yesterday. Heading to the range this evening to see what's what. For this session, I used the round pin and quenched wheel weight alloy with a gas check. My powder of choice is H110/W296 and that's what I will use. Don't know yet how they'll shoot, but if looks could kill...

I'll post some pics of the rig and ammo. 72360Stay tuned! [smilie=1:

Has been the most accurate revolver that I've owned. Its a 10in. BFR in 500 SW with a 2-7 Weaver mounted in Warne Rings on a Mag Research mount. Been fun so far...

Made it out to the range yesterday afternoon. Had one bright spot in the sample loadings. Lighter loads had horrendous groups and large deviations. 45g W296, WW LRM primers, once fired WW cases seems to be the ticket. This one yielded 1832fps and 20fps std deviation. Groups tightened up by inches and deviation was the first one in what I call an acceptable range. Primers still were fine and cases fell out of the chamber. I shall carry on to see if more powder will help. FYI, with this bullet 50+g should fit with no compression. I really like this mold and see some real promise.

BTW, this guy is making over 2600 ft/lbs of muzzle energy and the recoil is reasonable. From a seasoned 454 Casull shooter, all I can say is... Holy %&$(*!
