What keeps a bullet in the mould? I need to tap my .38 wad cutter mould several times to get the bullet to drop.I alternate moulds when casting. The other on that I use is a RCBS 2 cavity .225 mould and the bullets fall out upon opening the handes.
What am I doing wrong?

Small, almost imperceptable burrs on the edges of the mold cavities is the usual problem. Also, if the center of the cavity is to one side of the half a bit, it will hold.

First, try tapping the mold before you actually break it open, and while you are opening it. This can dissappear over time, or you can use a cast boolit from it held with a screw in the base to lap it. Some have used toothpaste even, but 600 grit clover compound, turned gently while closing the mold usually works.

Wadcutters have a lot of grooves in them too, that provide a lot of surface contact area.
