I just got 100 pounds of lead flashing Friday. The guy told me he wanted 40 cents a pound. He said there was some COWW in the bucket but was only a few. I hope that was a good price. I know I am going to have to mix it to get the hardness up. But the good thing the guy said he gets a 100 pounds or more every 2 weeks. He is going to hold it for me.

50/50 pure and COWW mix, with 2% tin added, makes for a beeeaauuutiful HP boolit for my pistols. And that mix makes a nice mushroom too. Works great for solids as well.
(sorry, I don't cast for rifles.)8-)
But you can use the alloy calculators in the stickies and get the exact hardness if you are looking for a certain number.

Grab it. All you can get. Price is OK. You can always harden it up with WW's or some monotype. Softer lead is, to me, always preferable. You pretty much know it does not have a lot of junk in it. Always grab the softer stuff. Hardening is easy !!! Good job. Mike

If you have the capacity to smelt it in large quantities, grab all you can get for as long as you can. After you have what you want, sell the excess. Here as ingots, on eBay as sinker material.
