Hi Guys and Gals;

We had cast a bunch of Lyman 311.291.GC, 170gn
I know its a Gas Check design Boolit
We are loading for a 30-30 using an old Lyman recipe useing 7gn of IMR x-700 Powder
up to now we had installed Gas checks
its not a big time beefie load and I had started to think maybe we can load this what I feel is a lite load with out a Gas Check?

Can we? Off hand I dont have stats for pressure or speed of the lyman load but do recall it was what I felt was a slow no big deal load

We what to Kill Paper People so not to worried about, turning up pressures
Has anyone done this?
is it your thoughts we might have leading or pressure issues?

please let us know
as i say Sean just wanted to do some shooting with it
and we are strapped as of now on out 30cal checks

Thanks for any help you may give

I cast and shoot all my rifles with boolits designed for checks and shoot them "nekkid" I won't buy gas checks as they are a pain in the butt to use.

I do it all the time using 9 to 10 trains of Unique.

The only problem will be a slight loss of accuracy.

Understand I am talking about loads in the pressure range you mention.

If you get two inch groups with the gas checks, they will open up to about three inches with no check.

If you don't want to buy checks and want to load them fast, just paper patch them. The paper patch forum has a lot of info. on how to.
