I'm working on a load that requires a wad with .005 thick petals, all I have are in the .015 range, I was thinking about using a basewad with a wrap but the only sizes i've found available are .010 and .003. I'm afraid .010 will be too tight in the bore resulting to too much pressure and .003 will be too loose and will fail and/or have poor accuracy. I'm loading homemade solid flat base slugs for a 12 gauge they are 1 1/8 oz and are .695 diameter. Bore diameter of the gun they will be used in is a smooth bore that is .705 all the way down (ithaca 37 deerslayer). Of course if I could just size them down to .690 that would be perfect but I am unaware of any available sizing die for .690. Any help would be appreciated.

I doubt you will find wads with petals than thin. You might try Teflon wrap or maybe mylar... or a couple of wraps of moderately thick paper should do it. Two wraps of paper about 0.0025" should be perfect.

If this slug is solid how are you stabilizing them without rifling?

was hoping to get a perfect match to bore diameter after a wrap or wad. i have a rifled deerslayer barrel that I could try them out of too.
