A few months ago I noticed an excellent condition Remington Model 14 in .35 Remington in their special rack. I looked it over a few times and did some research on it. This particular rifle had a lot of bluing gone but no rust. The wood finish was very thin but overall in excellent shape with the exception of one place on the tang which I could not figure out what had been done. After debating on the rifle I told myself that if it were still there on my next visit then I would get it. Well it was and I made an offer on it. The owner wasn't in but I was called back the next business day. We struck a deal for what I felt was a more than fare price.

Now most women on here might get a little fussy about my next trip to the gun store to get the rifle but it was on the way to the hospital to have our daughter. To be more specific- it was between the OB Dr's visit and the hospital. Heck- I had plenty of time since we weren't really in labor. I had to tell my wife we took a wrong turn enroute to pick it up but she knew and didn't fuss since she was on the phone telling everyone we were heading to the hospital.

Well things are settling down on my end and I finally have time to put up some pictures so here you go...

Now I just have to get the best Accurate Mold for this rifle, dies, and brass.

10-4. I figured the filled holes were from a sight. One thing I did find out about this rifle is a lot of the forearms are split. This one isn't. I think I got a good one. A history on the rifle wasn't available.

I have a Remington 141 and love the gun. It just feels right when you put it to your shoulder.

I picked up a model 14 a few months ago. I shoot left handed and this little rifle just feels good. It is in 30 rem though, but I am watching for a 35 now. lol

Nice looking gun. The tang sight with one screw in the wood was a Marbles, Lymans only used the two holes in the receiver extension. I also noticed the magazine cap is on backwards. The extended part towards the barrel is supposed to be a brush deflector, to keep twigs and brush from getting caught between the magazine and barrel. As it is now, it will be a brush catcher.
Looks like yours was made in 1936- last year of model 14 production.
I shoot Lyman 358311 and 358430 (195gr. version) in mine. I have also shot SWC bullets, they shoot pretty good but will not feed and have to be loaded one at a time.

Yep..The letter code on the rear of the barrel will give the year of manufacture. These are great rifles..enjoy

Layne Simpson did a very good two-part essay on the Remington 14/14-1/2/141 in one of the old Rifle magazines. Don't have my references here, but it was probably 30 years ago.

There is a forum dealing with these rifles and the folks there are experts.

Where can I find that forum? I have a bunch of these rifles 25 - 32, no 35's though.

There's a Marbles tang sight like this one had for sale on ebay right now. I have two model 14's one 14 1/2. They are nice guns and from an era of extra machining steps and good quality. Once very popular here in northern Mn.
