That was us yesterday. Wind chill was freezing point all day. Hail and snow on the hills. Heading for a good frost tonight.

I hope you didn't have a garden. That looks vicious.

I just saw that on the news. It looked like it snowed on a traffic camera, covering everything so deep. They showed a couple of shots of baseball sized hail in places as well. We dealt with it a few years ago and fixing all the banged up stuff is no fun.

My son texted that they were in a strong room last night as a tornado was reported at 45th and Coulter. They live about a mile East on 45th in Amarillo. We are forecast some rough weather today.

Sorry to hear about your garden. Tennis ball size, I guess you are lucky if you still have a roof.

Glad you are OK! Losing the garden is really bad news. If you had tennis ball size hail, you better have your roof checked. Ours was destroyed a few years ago by hail half that size!

Hail from golf ball size up is bad...being in TX you oughta be used to the bad storms...maybe just not the hail though.

Hail is a warm weather phenomenon, not cold. Its definitely a warning sign of an unstable atmospheric condition.

Ah ha. Could you point that out to the weather system that came through the other day? :-)

Hate hail
Never seen it that sized
But it sure can cause a lot of damage

Weather service said it was not a tornado, just straight wind. Straight wind may be worse as it usually covers a bigger area. We had a Tornado warning today but none materialized. Looked rainy all day and we only got .2 in. with a lot of wind.

Sorry to hear about the big hail. I have never had any more than about nickel
to quarter size (5/8 inch to 1 inch for those outside of theUS) and that was bad
enough, just starting to dent the cars. Tennis ball sized would be very
bad.

My garden has went through 2 hail storms in the past 6 weeks. The first one was bad enough to destroy about everything I had growing. I had to replant.

Got caught in a hail storm out in the country a few years back. Fortunately NOT in my car. My mate's car looked like a golf ball by the end. BIG stones. I felt for the poor old cows in the paddocks.

I was in the front yard when living on base @ Tinker AFB (OKC), and a BBall sized hailstone hit the yard and bounced about 4 feet high. MAN! I wanted to grab that one for the freezer, and headed for it. Then, another one hit the driveway - and burst into a jillion shards, SMASHAROO! Hmmm - I retreated under the carport, and watched. It was if they were floating down, coming down by the hundreds, just almost floating down, until they hit the ground and bounced 4' high.
But they were fairly light, rotten ice, not solid like an ice cube. I gathered a few and kept them for a time, but they lost their charm...
