hi, I am looking for a load for 124 grain LRN and red dot that will consistently shoot around 1050 FPS, was just wondering if anyone already has a sweet load built up, or a good starting load as none of my manuals list red dot-- will be using a glock 34.

I am no expert on the 9mm, but I would say that Red Dot might be just a little fast-burning for the load you describe.

I really like Red Dot in 9MM. There was an excellent post here some months ago, that recommended trying Red Dot loads of 3.6 gr, 3.8 gr and 4.0 gr. with 120 -125 gr boolits. While many indicated that they liked 4.0 gr. best, I found that 3.8 gr shot best for me using Lyman 358242 and Lee 356-125-2R. I size to .358 with White Label 2500+ lube. Both boolits chronographed @ 1070 fps in my CZ 75B and Glock 22 LW conversion barrel. Also, using Promo 3.8 grs. I got identical stats. and performance.

4.0 is a very nice load for lead around 125 gr. Nice accuracy with low recoil and burns clean. Depends on barrel length as to what you end up with for velocity. I rarely shoot the 9mm in IDPA but when I do it's 4.0 of RD.

Go get the data from the Manufacturer online or in a booklet don't take my word for this being a true acceptable max load but it looks like Red Dot will work for what you want.

Warning this is with my gun, my scale, my powder measure, my cases, my primers, my lot of Red Dot. I load 4.3 grains of Red Dot with a 129 gr. LRN in my Star and my CZ-52 and get more than 1100 FPS.

do you know what your velocity is with this load, and what is your barrel length?

I shoot buckets of 9 128g boolits with red dot. 3.5-4 will be your sweet spot

with that weight boolit I find my 9's like 4gr Promo. Seems like everyone is in agreement on the charge weight here

yup, I've settled on 4.0 grains of red dot, the G34 loves it and is very accurate with it, it's really clean, and I've got an 8#jug of it![smilie=w:
