I finally got to shoot my new to me, [Had only150 rds thru it when i got it]
Blackhawk 7 1/2" in 45 colt today. I took 4 different load work ups of 22 rds each of 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0 of Unique with a RCBS 45-255 SWC crimped in the grove for testing and shooting at 40 yds.

First revolver shooting i've done in several decades and as exspected were not very good, about 14"-16" but my goal was to find out what loads worked better in the gun and if it was leading.

After the first set of loads i cleaned the barrel with hops and notice the rear sight pivot pin was backing out of the left side of the gun. Pushed it back in with a drift and continued my testing and had to push it back in several times durring my tests.71787

So my question is, Is there a way to repair this problem without sending it in to Ruger for warrenty, Possably a bit of locktite might cure this problem ?

Oh and my finding on the better powder loads were 7.5 and 8.0 gns were very dirty and did not seal the cases in the cylinder and had some leading but the 8.5 and 9.0 did well, Might try some in the 9.5 and 10.0 and see if it shoots well.

2 approaches to the wandering pin- take it out and put a very slight bend in it- then reinsert. The quick and dirty way is take a prick punch and make a small dimple at each end of the hole

The best way to correct this problem is to install a new roll pin. You can get one locally or Ruger will send one to you in the mail.

Common thing. You can squeeze an end in the vise to flatten it a little too. The pin is a loose fit to start with.

I have the same problem with a 7 1/2" 44mag SBH. Mine could be pushed back in easily with my finger. It came half way out about ever 12 shots.
I called Ruger and they sent me two new pins. New ones push right in with a finger, and fall out as easy as the original. I was going to try Loctite but after reading 44man's post I think I'll try flattening the end of the pin a bit. 44man has never never led me astray yet.
Thanks to the OP for posting, and thanks to 44man for the tip!

I rolled mine between 2 files to burr it up a little. I tapped it with a brass punch to get it back in and it hasn't moved since.

I gave mine a slight "curve" and it fits snug now.

Yep, works too. The pin depends on the springs to hold it with pressure. They have never been a tight fit.
The file thing works like knurling.

Most of us who own many Rugers & have the occasional loose pin just let it back out a little, tap it sideways lightly to put a slight bend in it. Then tap it back in. No more walking pins.

Yep I put a bur on the end of the pin with diagonals and hammered it back .
