To update, he has spinal injuries, both hips broken, ribs, head injuries, and more. Still unconscious, but squeezed the hands of mother and sister. He was rushing to help a friend with a cow having birthing problems and missed a curve for some reason.

He can move his hands when they stop the morphine long enough. He had brain swelling during the night so they relieved the pressure. If they can prevent pneumonia they will do surgery to fuse his spine. The spinal cord is not severed. We don't know if he will regain use of his legs. He will have a long haul, but is receiving excellent care. Thanks for the prayers.

Another update on nephew, Don. He had problems with brain swelling and they had to relieve pressure. He has since improved to the point they did surgery to fuse the broken vertebrae in his neck and it went well. He had movement in his hands and was trying to pull the catheter out so they had to restrain his hands when he is allowed to come out of sedation, which tells me he has feeling there. They plan to remove the breathing machine after the weekend. God has done many miracles already for him in this, from having the perfect persons immediately on scene and on duty, to his far surpassing all doctor's expectations. The spinal cord is not severed, but has suffered trauma. We are a family accustomed to God's miracles and believe for a full recovery. Thanks for your continued prayers. Dale

I will keep praying for him Dale.

I know first hand how God answers prayers. Three weeks ago my son took a bad hit from behind playing LAX. He could not feel his legs all or hands and was rushed to the ER strapped to a back board. We sent out a prayer request on are way to the hospital. While he was waiting for X-ray's to be taken he told us that his back felt like it was super warm. The next thing you know he told us was he had tingling in his hands and feet. A few minutes later he had all feeling back. The doctors could not explain what had happened. We told them we fully understood what had just happened. They did not see anything wrong on the X-rays. He walked away with just a vary sore neck and a concussion.

God bless your Nephew and your whole family.

Follow up prayers from NW Ohio. Is there anything else we can do for them?

I too am accustomed to miracles! I was in a bad crash when I was young. My left arm was paralyzed and multiple Drs told me it would never heal. They claimed that the nerves were destroyed from the spine. It shriveled up and kinda hung there for a couple years. One day it felt like lightning struck it and oh man did it hurt. It started to work a little.I knew God could fix it. It took 10 years for it to become a real arm again. Was weak and had multiple numb spots but was an arm. Another 10 years and it was 85%. Almost 30 years now and it is 98%. I dont understand the complete process but know that God knows what He is doing! I do know that I was prideful, arrogant, narcissistic etc before I was busted up bad. I am a pretty humble guy now!

Don is progressing so well he will be moved to therapy hospital and they will begin aggressive therapy. He can whisper a little and had reflex response in both feet. The doctor's had given him only a 2% chance of walking again, but our God has overcome greater odds than that, and now the response in his feet is the best news yet. I suspected that he had feeling in his lower extremities as he had to be restrained from pulling out his catheter, so I knew he felt it. Prayer works! Keep it up.

I have seen many miracles and experienced a few. I am still amazed when God sends us one.

Lots of you probably know Jim Taylor the gunwriter. He had an experience while hunting Africa a few years back and was compelled to move there to work as a missionary.

He has wrote of the great faith the people there have. He has witnessed great miracles there. I doubted the truth of some of the reports. I had to think hard on it and felt ashamed when I came to my senses and realized that God does heal peoples "unfixable" wounds. He created our universe by speaking it!

I am excited for Don! I sent a ladyfriend this link and she adopted him as a prayer child.

Don is at Baylor Hospital in Dallas now and he used the bed rails to pull himself to a sitting position. He is able to carry on short conversations in whispers. His smile and wit are very much working. The insurance will only pay for 60 days of therapy so they will make the most of it. Immediate family only is allowed to keep focus on rehab. God is doing awesome work.

Update on Don. When he was moved to Baylor two weeks ago He could just move his arms enough to give a hug and could talk a little. Now he talks a mile a minute and wheels himself anywhere in the wheel chair. He still has some short term memory loss but long term memory is fine. He is working hard and has amazed doctors and therapists with his progress. Onward to full recovery! Thanks for all the prayers. I will see if I can get some before and current pics posted soon.

Don is making the trek to Dallas 3 days a week for more aggressive therapy and is making gains due to very hard work. He has been given a new house that is under construction that has handicap ramps. He has declared he will never use the ramps, but will walk up under his own power. He has been a hardworking, goal oriented person all his life and the accident has only enhanced that character.

Don continues to improve daily with your prayers! Awakened to the realization that life will never be the same, they have decided to sell their beautiful boat! He knows it would be impossible to get in and out of it. They still have to make a decision about their Travel Trailer. He has to make a trip to the lake and try to get into it from his wheel chair. If not, it will be for sell also. He plans to keep his golf cart because it is offroad capeable and he can have hand controls put on it.
It is heart breaking to make these decisions because he worked so hard to get and use all of these things and now have to give them up. Funny part is the boat is a 2009 model but only has 14 hours on it! He would take it out to different locations in the lake, anchor and swim with his two Kids!
Enjoy all of the things you now have because life can change instantly and your priorties will be completely different!

I've really appreciated these updates and want to raise my hand in prayer for Don along with the rest of you.

I was in a water-skiing accident about 25 years ago and it really messed up my right foot and changed my life. Only a miracle prevented it from needing amputation, and it's not the way it used to be. I quickly realized that my self-worth is more than just flesh, bone, and muscle. "Normal" is a state of mind, not a physical reality, so in that regard I have to put "normal" in quotes. I determined that whatever would happen with my foot, I was going to be OK. My "normal" was just dandy, thank you... My prayer is that Don feels pretty much the same way. Just his story alone has really impressed me.

Don's "normal" is just dandy, thank you! Rock on, Don!!

Dale reminded me to give an update on Don! This week he drove himself to Abilene!!! It is 45 miles away and his doctor released him to drive. He loaded himself into the truck. Took the wheels off of his chair and put it in the back seat. Then he drove to Abilene to West Texas Rehab. Unloaded the chair and rolled himself inside for three hours of weight training and walking with the aide of his leg braces and a walker! He then loaded back up, drove to a restaurant to have lunch with his cousin. After lunch he drove home and did it again on Thursday!
He said they worked him pretty hard but, he still was able to do all that he needed to do! Their new home will be ready in a few weeks and he is going to walk in the door! GOD IS GREAT!!!

CONTINUOUSLY AMAZED! Don just left going to Houston to take his Daughter to the Houston Stock Show to show her calf. Great part is that HE IS DRIVING! 395 miles and should take around 7 hours. His Wife and Mother in law are following him, his Daughter "Cashley" and his Son "Callan"! They had borrowed a wheel chair lift to go on the Suburban and when they were going to leave this morning, it would not lift his wheel chair. The lift on his truck is bolted to the truck so it could not be moved to the Suburban. With his determination, he said, I will just take my truck and Y'all can follow me! The man does not know the meaning of " YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" His friend that he was going to help the day of his accident, took the calf with theirs yesterday. Look out Houston, Don is heading your way!!!

She won the 4H Hoof award for her continuous work with her calf ever after her Dad's accident. She also won an award for perseverance in helping her Dad in everything he needs in his daily life. She has become his legs whenever he needs anything done and, has done so without complaining. Also was given $1000 for each award! Makes me ONE PROUD Grandpa!!!

You can see his new home in the background. He goes all over town mowing for elderly people and family. His Granddad is 86 and fusses at him for coming over. Even uses his cordless weedeater from his wheel chair!
