Guys, I recently acquired a Winchester saddle ring carbine in 30-30. Much to my dismay, finding brass has been next to impossible. I do have a considerable quantity of 7x30 brass on hand, and was considering necking a couple hundred pieces back up to 30-30. I know it will work, I already did it with one piece of brass. My concern is weakening the brass by overworking it. I will be using only cast boolits in this rifle, with mild to moderate loads. I should be fine right?

I've see a number of offers of 30-30 brass for sale in swapping and selling. I've necked down brass, but never up.

I'm just gonna go for it. I already have the brass (lots), going up from 28-30 is no big deal, and the shoulder just gets pushed back to it's original position. Will check length and trim if needed.

Why don't you just swap the 7-30 Waters brass for .30-30 brass. When I was looking for 7-30 Waters brass, I would have loved to have done just that.

That's what BCB's pm was about, but I think he only wanted 7x30 headstamps only. Pretty limited market.

I have a 9.3x57 Husqvarna rifle. A friend made up an expander for me so I can expand 8mmx57 Mauser brass to 9.3, (.366). Completely solves the considerable brass problem for me. I also bumped up 7.08 to 308 when short of 308 brass.
