got lucky today, $395 otd for a original stock, rebarreled .35 Whelen in excellent shape, obviously the collector value gone with the rebarrel, but heck the action and stock are probably worth $600 alone, wanted a Whelen forever, now I have a classic.

It just ain't true without pictures. lol I just had to be the first to say that. Sounds like a great score on a great caliber.

Remember with no pics to share with all of us, our version of all this is " It never happened ."

I'll get some pics tomorrow, heck I'll even put the tag in them!
Luckily I've got 70 rounds of brass brand new just waiting for this occasion.

Wow, I think I'd feel guilty for getting a rifle like that at that price (but only for a few minutes)

Nice score, I love Pre-'64 Model 70s. I also like post-'64 Model 70s, just so,ething about those rifles.

Nice find. I have a model 70 in .243 and one thought is to re-barrel to .358, the stock and trigger, bolt action are all just so lovely.
I have a 35 Whelen on a re-bored Mauser 98k by FN Herstal. Loads here:
With 38/357 pistol bullets:

Greetings...
I guess the photos went somehwere else :( Maybe Heavy is down the Paw Paw blowing carp out of the overflows. That was great fun when I was a teenager. Dad was thrilled with carp grown tomatoes.
