Well went to the range today, broke out the 686, 610 and my grandpa's 32-20, .32 SWL and little .32 acp German Mauser

The little .32 ACP I had 3 rounds to try from the left,
the 60g Hornady XTP sized .311 with 2.2 grs of WW231 seated deep .915
the 71g REM FMJ sized .312 with 2.2grs of WW231 seated .960
the RCBS .32-77gr weight 79grs with 1.9 grs of WW231 seated very deep .905 (to cycle).
BEST thing all three rounds cycled great and I had no failures to feed and no jams the German Mausers are cool.

The next one is my 32-20 and .32 SWL both AA#5 4.6 and 3.5 respectiviely with the RCBS 32-098-SWC what a great litte bullet. The AA#5 powder had a bit of unbrunt powder even with a lite charge, gonna which to WW231 next time.

That's fantastic. If I was to shoot handguns then .32 would be my choice. Cheap to run, mild to shoot.

Last summer, I bought an older S&W revolver in 32 S&W Long. Great little gun - 4 inch barrel, and it shoots really well. I got the (used) RCBS 98gr SWC mold and that works well also. I will have to be careful loading for this one due to the age (made before they heat treated the cylinders). I also have a Colt 32ACP auto that I have a mold and brass for - just haven't cast any boolits for this one yet. Yes, 32's are lots of fun and quite accurate. Mike

Aw man, now you've done it. You've told everybody else how much fun the 32s are and now there will be more competition for them next time you or I try to get another one. What were you thinking? :kidding:

I want to know more about the 32-20. Looks like a nice number for cast in rifles. Jeff has one on a Martini Cadet, I think. There are one or two for sale on Used Guns on the internet. I'm thinking about getting one.

Converted .22RF Model 12 with a SMLE barrel. Heap of fun.

I have two 32 Smiths, a 32/20 and a 32 S&W. Both are accurate and great fun.

What I'd really like to find is a K Frame S&W (Like an old K-32 or K-38) in the recent 327 Federal Magnum, but I think that this cartridge is dying fast in the market place. Too bad as it would really make a fine varmint and extended range plinking round.

There is no factory version of the K-frame S&W in 327 Fed Mag, and since there didn't seem to be any real likelihood that the factory would build one, I had my own custom built on a Model 66 frame using a rebored Model 617 cylinder and 4" barrel. It's been discussed here on this forum and more extensively on the S&W forum at;

http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/260686-project-616-a.html

I'm enjoying owning and shooting mine. Economics and bean counters notwithstanding, I feel the K-frame and the 327 Fed Mag are the perfect match. I've bought 1000 rounds of new brass from Star*Line and a couple of hundred from Federal (mostly loaded ammo) as well as several good bullet moulds, so as long as powder, lead and primers are available, I should be good to go! :Fire:

It sounds like you had a lot of fun! Did I catch that all of the 32's were your Grandad's? If so, that just makes the day even more special.

The only gun my Dad ever owned was a S&W .32 top break. I've still got the gun, and I bring it out about once a year to remind me of Dad.

I've since collected a whole bunch of .32's, mostly revolvers, but a few auto's and the odd rifle or three as well. I wouldn't mind having one of the Mausers if I could find one at a decent price.

The RCBS 98 grain SWC is pretty much an ideal all around bullet in the revolver calibers.

NoZombies,

Yeap the .32 SWL and the 32-20(32 WCF) where granddads, he is gone now, the Mauser was great Aunts(she too is gone now), she was a nurse in WWII the Mauser came back after WWII even have the Army paper show it coming back to the US with serial number and all. Yeap nice to shoot em, the revolvers are right at 90 years old, the Mausers hard to date they made so many probabley 1930 so its only 83 years old.

I have a bunch of old early 20th century .32 acps (7.65mm) Love to shoot them all. I reload them with the Ranch Dog 75 grain boolits & all cycle & shoot very well and very accurate ( usually any problem I have had were cured by getting new magazines) My favorites are my 1914 mauser, 1922 Ortgies and a 1940's era French MAB model D. These little guns are some of the most accurate auto pistols I have
