Would shooting my Pistols/Rifles in the pool behind the house work as well as slugging the barrel?
I have an inground pool that is 9 feet deep, and don't believe there is a chance of puncturing the liner.
Also, would it make a differecne if the projectile was cast or jacketed.

Thanks,
Bo

The impact with the water will expand the bullet. If you can find Richard Lee's book of modern gun loading, you'll read that most of his early expansion tests were done in his backyard pool.

Yes, you can but use exceptionally low velocity. Just enough to clear the barrel. Suggest 2.5 BE with loosely fitted toilet paper slice against the powder. 9 feet might not be enough, so shoot at enough angle that will NOT cause a glance. Naturally, it depends upon boolit weight. Suggest 20 foot travel, just in case. ... felix

22 and 45 ACP would not travel across our above ground pool (15 ft. Dia.) or even come close. The guns were fired underwater.
