I cast my 30-30 and 44 Rem mag bullets. Use them for silhouette competition. I've got an enthusiastic shooter with a Marlin 1894 in 41 Mag. We have spent the last 30 days trying to get projectiles. I am coming to the conclusion we are SOL and the next match is June 2nd. At this point, I don't see he can use the gun. He is paying $80/50 for factory loads....blech!
LaserCast, Miestercast, Montana, Ranier, Midway, Cabellas, Brownells, local gun shops....zippo. Back order on 41s is likely months out.
I am almost ready to have him buy mould and Saeco sizing die but that is silly for a new shooter. There must be a better way. We're looking for a 410610 type mould. Yup, understand GC are not available. Hate to buy a GC mould when you know a GC will never be put on. I shoot 429215 w/o GC but the mould was short money used.
I think he's going to drive to M&P bullets in VT as we are in NH and see what he can scare up. I just thought I would toss this out to the casting community to see if anyone has any bright ideas. I am at the point where I wonder if I am not thinking clearly.

I would post an ad in the WTB section immediately!!!
I can't imagine that someone here who casts for the .41 wouldn't help you out and sell/trade some boolits to get you through. As for checks, surely the custom makers are making something for the .41? I'd sure get a couple ads up and see what I could shake outta the bushes.
Good luck, wish I could be more help.

I think I have some surplus .41 bullets cast from my LBT mould that could help you out. They surely work well in my S&W 57. I am laid up at the minute so will have to get my wife to dig them out if you are interested.

I cast some from the MP Mold 41-258 which is a HP/Solid design.
Also have some LBT style LFNGC's at 255gr.

I would suggest you contact Jeff Holt, over @ Appalachian Ammunition in Farmington, Maine ( 207-491-2942 ).
If there's none in stock, he might be able to make some up for your friend.

First, I just love this cast bullet community.
Pietro, I went to Appalachian (http://www.appalachianammo.com/) and the message on the website is grim. I gave it to my buddy and said call and use your gift of gab.
Clay M, thanks for the lead on GC, if we get a 410610 we'll know where to go.
GARCIA, thanks for those are too heavy for what we need in silhouette.
Hatch/Dan Cash, sounds good but seems we might have a forum buddy who we can drive to.
Doc Stihl, my buddy is in Gilmanton. I will PM you. He's a newbie and drinking from a fire-hose but it never gets old trying to hook a new shooter! See your PM.

They are running about a month behind so this won't help right now but you can get ready for next time.

They show the 225 RNFP in stock, takes about a week to ship.

Thanks all. I am looking at all the options. Doc Stihl dropped off some samples last night. WOW! Now I need my new shooter to show at the house, do some loading and go and do tests. Man it would be nice to have a range at the house huh?
Need to see if we can find a cast bullet that will work...and I can get a mould. And, I need to see how serious this new shooter is. Guess we'll find out soon.
Thanks again and I will keep you posted.

I was going to have LBT make me up a 170 gr RN based on a bullet I had him make for me in 40 cal.. I still intend to have him make it as soon as I get my 657 cylinder cut for moon clips and have moon clips made up for it by Dave Hearth of Hearthco moon clips.. :)
I figure if I went through all the trouble of getting the 657, I should at least shoot it once or twice at the match where it was won.. (International Revolver Championships). It'll be fun on the Standards..
